betty.caor open the Betty app, and select Join Betty. - Enter your email and choose a password.
- Enter your full legal name as it appears on your ID.
- Enter your date of birth and current address.
- Follow the prompts to verify your identity.
- Set your limits before you deposit.
Betty’s form also shows a promotion choice during sign-up. You can read the terms first or skip it. See how Betty promotions work.
What ID does Betty accept?
Betty accepts three kinds of government photo ID. It refuses one that many people reach for first.
| Document | Accepted? |
|---|---|
| Driver's licence | Yes |
| Passport | Yes |
| Provincial photo card | Yes |
| Health card | No. Betty cites privacy laws |
The check confirms three things: your full legal name, your date of birth and your current home address. Make sure the ID you choose is current and readable.
Why does Betty verify your identity?
Provincial rules require it. The process is often called KYC, short for “know your customer”. It means a business must confirm who you are before taking your money.
For a casino, KYC does three jobs. It keeps minors out. It stops one person opening several accounts.
It makes sure winnings go to the real account holder. Betty runs the check before your first deposit, so a payout is less likely to stall on ID later.
Why did my Betty verification fail?
Most failures are small mismatches between what you typed and what your ID says. Betty’s own tips point to the same two culprits: names and addresses.
| Cause | Fix |
|---|---|
| Nickname or short name used | Enter your name exactly as printed on your ID, including middle names if shown |
| Old address entered | Use the address where you receive mail today |
| Recent move, ID not updated | Have a recent utility bill or bank statement ready as proof of address |
| Date of birth typed in the wrong order | Use month, then day, then year |
| Health card offered | Use a driver's licence, passport or provincial photo card |
| Second account detected | Betty allows one account each. Contact support to recover the first |
If you are stuck, Betty’s onboarding team answers at [email protected] and on live chat. Tell them which step failed.
When will Betty ask for more documents?
Betty can ask for more at any time, most often around a withdrawal. Its Terms list two document types:
- A copy of a valid passport or identity card.
- Proof of address, such as a recent utility bill or bank statement.
Betty may also ask where your gambling money comes from. This is a “source of funds” check. Regulated casinos must run it when deposits are large or unusual.
Its help centre has separate articles for Ontario and Alberta on why these questions appear. Declining to answer can limit your account.
The sign-up form also asks if you are a “politically exposed person”. That means someone holding a prominent public office, or a close relative of one. Most people answer no.
Can you have two Betty accounts?
No. Betty allows one account per player. A duplicate is one of the listed reasons for an account restriction.
If you forgot an old account, do not open a new one. Recover the first through Betty login help or ask support.
Can you register outside Ontario or Alberta?
You can open the site and register from elsewhere in Canada. Betty’s help centre says you can also log in, deposit and withdraw. Real-money games stay blocked until you are in a licensed province.
There is little reason to deposit where you cannot play. If you live in another province, read betty.com vs betty.ca first.
I made a mistake in my details. How do I fix it?
Betty’s help centre has an article for exactly this. The short version is that you contact support. You usually cannot edit your legal name or date of birth yourself, because they are tied to the ID check.
Fix errors before you deposit. A wrong name can delay your first withdrawal, since payouts must go to an account in your own name.
What happens after you sign up?
Once verified, you can use the full account. Three good next steps:
- Set a deposit, loss or playtime limit while your budget is clear in your mind.
- Make a first deposit from $1, ideally by the method you plan to withdraw with.
- Check the age and location rules for Ontario or Alberta.
