Is Betty Casino legal in Alberta?
Yes. Alberta now lets private online casinos register, as Ontario does. Alberta iGaming Corporation publishes the list of registered sites. “Betty Casino” is on it under the Casino category, with a link to betty.ca.
Betty’s Alberta page says it is “fully licensed and regulated by the AGLC and managed by AiGC”. You can confirm the listing yourself with the steps in our licence check guide.
When did Betty launch in Alberta?
Betty launched in Alberta on July 13, 2026. Betty announced the date on its own blog a month earlier, on June 12. The App Store listing now describes the app as “made for players in Ontario and Alberta”.
One caution on older pages. Betty’s Terms of Service were last updated in April 2026, before the launch. They still say the service is for Ontario only.
A help article from February says the same. Betty’s newer pages, its app listing and the provincial list all confirm Alberta.
How old do you have to be to play Betty in Alberta?
You must be 18 or older. That is one year younger than Ontario’s limit of 19. Alberta iGaming Corporation’s site carries the line “18+ Play Responsibly”.
Betty checks your age from photo ID when you register. See Betty sign-up and ID check for the documents it accepts.
Do you have to be in Alberta to play?
Yes. Betty checks your location before each session. Your home address does not decide it. If you leave Alberta, real-money games lock until you return.
Location checks sometimes fail for people who are inside the province. Border areas, rural spots and VPN software are common causes. Fixes are in Betty location errors.
What is different from Betty in Ontario?
The core product is the same: online slots from the same wallet and app. Four things differ.
| Item | Alberta | Ontario |
|---|---|---|
| Legal age | 18 | 19 |
| Betty Bingo | Not offered | Offered |
| Central self-exclusion | Centralized Self-Exclusion Program. Fixed terms that cannot be cancelled | BetGuard |
| Main help line | GameSense. Open five days a week, set hours | ConnexOntario. Open 24/7 |
| Number of games | Not confirmed | 4,500+ according to Betty |
On the game count: Betty’s Alberta page shows “500+”, while review sites quote 3,100 to 4,200. We cannot tell which is right, so we leave it as not confirmed. See Betty games by province.
How does Alberta’s Centralized Self-Exclusion work?
The Centralized Self-Exclusion Program, or CSE, is a voluntary block run by the AGLC. One sign-up covers all Alberta online gambling sites. You can also include land-based casinos and racing centres.
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Who can enrol | Anyone 18 or older. No player account needed |
| Terms offered | 6 months, 1 year, 2 years or 3 years |
| Can you end it early? | No. The agreement cannot be cancelled or changed |
| Website | selfexclusion.ca |
| Phone | 1-844-468-8034 |
| [email protected] |
Read the “cannot be cancelled” line twice before you choose a term. That firmness is the point of the programme. If you want a shorter, lighter break, Betty’s own timeout runs from 1 day to 3 months. All options are compared in Betty limits, timeouts and self-exclusion.
Where can Alberta players get gambling help?
Several services are free. The main gambling line is not open around the clock, so note the second row.
| Service | Contact | Hours |
|---|---|---|
| GameSense Info Line | 1-833-447-7523 | Tuesday and Wednesday 10 am to 5 pm. Thursday to Saturday 1 pm to 8 pm |
| 211 Alberta | Call 211, or text INFO to 211 | 24 hours, every day |
| Alberta Gamblers Anonymous | albertaga.ca | Meeting times on the website |
| Responsible Gambling Council | responsiblegambling.org | Online resources |
GameSense is closed on Sundays and Mondays. If you need to talk to someone then, or late at night, call 211.
One odd detail: Betty’s Alberta landing page shows the ConnexOntario number in its footer. That is an Ontario service. Use the Alberta contacts above.
Can an Ontario Betty account be used in Alberta?
We could not confirm this. Betty runs one website and one app for both provinces, which suggests one account system. But ages, limits and self-exclusion schemes differ by province, and no Betty page explains what happens when you move.
If you relocate or travel between the two, ask Betty support in writing before you play. See how to contact Betty.
Why don’t Alberta review sites list Betty’s bonuses?
Alberta’s advertising rules restrict it. Trade press reports that the AGLC bans advertising of gambling inducements, bonuses and credits, except on the operator’s own site or in opt-in messages. Operators answer for their affiliates.
We follow that rule here and publish no offers. We were not able to open the AGLC’s own document, so this rests on press coverage. More in how Betty promotions work.
What we could not confirm for Alberta
- The AGLC registry entry. The AGLC site returned errors on every attempt.
- The game count. Sources range from 500+ to 4,200+.
- Alberta-specific terms. Betty’s published Terms predate the launch.
- The complaint escalation route. The Terms name iGaming Ontario only.
- Cross-province accounts. Not documented.
